West Norfolk Deaf
Association was set up in 1991, in response to the demand from local
people for a centre for Deaf people.
The Deaf Association aims to provide information, support and advice
to deaf people in West Norfolk whilst raising awareness of deaf
people’s needs in the wider community.
The National Lottery Charities Board granted us £153,985, in March
1998 to establish a centre in King's Lynn and to employ a full time
manager. The centre opened in 1998 and is used for social events and
as an information centre, providing information, support and advice.
Hearing people use the centre too as a place to get information
about a range of issues.
We also have contact with organisations like Social Services, the
Primary Care Trust, and the Local Council to make sure they know
what Deaf and hard of hearing people think of their services and
what we want for the future.
