The Deaf Centre

EntranceThe Deaf Association has been established to provide information, support and advice to deaf people in West Norfolk whilst raising awareness of deaf people’s needs in the wider community.

In 1999 the Association brought premises and became a registered charity.

We have two rooms available for hire, one on the ground floor, the other on the first floor.

The Deaf Centre is situated on Railway Road in the town centre of Kings Lynn. The bus station and the railway station are located nearby giving easy access to the Deaf Centre.

Although the Deaf Centre does not have parking facilities there are car parks close by.

The Deaf Association’s offices are found on the Ground floor. Office hours are Mon—Fri 10am to 4pm.

The Ground Floor

The ground floor meeting room covers 751sq.ft. and can accommodate approximately 50 people.

Furniture in the room is not fixed down so the room can be laid out to suit individual needs.

Facilities in the room are; Whiteboard, flipchart, TV and video, OHP screen (OHP is available), a loop system for hard of hearing people and refreshment amenities.

There is a refreshment bar situated in the meeting room which is also accessed from the kitchen. Alcohol cannot be sold on the premises. The ground floor meeting room is wheelchair accessible including the toilet.

The first floor meeting room covers 1,004 sq.ft. and accommodates approximately 75 people.

Deafness: The Facts

The ear never stops working. Even when people are asleep, the ear continues to hear sounds, but the brain shuts them out.
