Hearing Support Service
Offering advice and support for Hearing Aid wearers in
West Norfolk
Our volunteer’s are available to visits Residential/Nursing Homes and Sheltered Housing Complexes to carry out simple maintenance to NHS hearing aids.
Each volunteer wears hearing aids and has been trained to maintain NHS hearing aids.
What will a visit involve?
A visit involves a volunteer checking the hearing aid and either retubing, changing batteries or cleaning the mould. They also give support, advice about equipment and can help with inserting ear moulds correctly. They have information about local lipreading classes which many people find help them to manage their hearing loss and minimise isolation.
Will I have to pay?
Our service is free of charge.
How do I make a referral?
Just contact us and we will arrange for a volunteer to visit you.
Training for Staff
We can also offer basic training to staff to help them recognise when someone’s hearing aid is in need of maintenance.
Come and visit our Equipment Clinic
When? Every second Wednesday of the month between 1:30pm and 4:30pm. No appointment is needed.
Where?
At the Deaf Centre in King's Lynn.
Equipment is free of charge and includes doorbells, alarm clocks and louder or flashing telephone ringers.
