Our popular BSL courses are back! Starting in October 2022, we have courses suitable for all levels of ability.
* Level 1 is designed for new-comers, where you will learn basic vocabulary and be able to hold a conversation with other BSL users.
* Level 2 is for more advance users, where your knowledge & vocabulary will be expanded upon, enabling you to become fluent in BSL.
All courses are led by an experienced, qualified BSL user and result in a nationally recognised award.
Lipreading Class

Lipreading is the art of understanding speech using movements of the lips and face, and it can dramatically improve the self-confidence & communication skills of those with hearing difficulties.
These weekly sessions are designed to help you make the most of your hearing - You will learn how to lipread with other people facing similar issues, and by the end will be able to better understand conversations.

British Sign Language - Taster Session

A fun & informal introduction to British Sign Language, delivered by our friendly, experienced, qualified tutor.

British Sign Language - Level 1

Take your British Sign Language knowledge and understanding to the next level.
These classes will teach you the next steps of British Sign Language, improving your vocabulary and conversational skills.
The course is directed by a qualified BSL user, and upon completion you will receive a certificate and nationally recognised qualification.
Deaf Awareness Training

A course designed to raise awareness of the deaf community and those with hearing loss, to ensure all services are as accessible as possible.
Suitable for individuals, organisations, schools or groups, this course is ideal for anyone wanting to improve their service offerings, understanding, and increase awareness.
This course can also be booked as a private session for organisations, schools, or groups and can take place at your chosen location.
Green Skills Gardening Project

Date: Monday 20th June
Time: 10am - 3:30pm
Duration: 6 week course (2 days per week)
Location: Salvation Army Hall, Downham Market
Price: FREE
Join our short course to improve your practical gardening skills.
Work towards an optional provisional CSCS card and get help with CVs and interview skills.
The project will be 6 weeks long, 2 days per week (Monday & Tuesday) from 10am – 3.30pm at Downham Market Salvation Army Garden. Each day will be half a day of practical work in the garden and the other half will be classroom based, working towards the CSCS Health and Safety on construction sites qualification.
Suitable for all unemployed people aged 16-25, this course is perfect for young people wanting to gain new skills & improve their employability.
